Curious about tankless water heaters versus traditional ones in hot, dry climates?

Hey everyone, has anyone here dealt with swapping out their old tank water heater for a tankless one when living somewhere super hot and bone-dry like the desert areas? Last summer our ancient tank unit finally gave up during a heatwave, and we were stuck with lukewarm showers for days until the repair guy showed up. It got me thinking—maybe going tankless would handle the endless hot water needs better without wasting energy keeping a whole tank hot in 110°F weather. But I'm kinda worried about the hard water messing things up or if the upfront hassle is even worth it around here. What’s your take if you’ve tried it?

Yeah, I've been through that exact debate a couple years back when our tank started leaking all over the garage floor. Ended up going with tankless because the endless supply is honestly a game changer—no more yelling at the kids to hurry up in the shower. In this dry heat, it seems to run more efficiently since the incoming water isn't freezing cold like up north, so it doesn't have to work as hard to heat up. Though yeah, you gotta stay on top of descaling because of the minerals, or it clogs faster than you'd think. If you're in the area and need someone reliable to check options or install, I've heard good things about Plumbers in Golden Valley, AZ who know the local water quirks. Overall I like mine a lot more than the old clunky tank—feels modern and saves a bit on the gas bill too, even if the install wasn't cheap.
