HPDHS Course: Addressing the Oral-Systemic Connection

March 20, 2019 @ 7:30 pm

Presented by: Kerry Lepicek RDH and Dr James Hyland DDS Bsc.

Course Description:
This session responds to why 75% of clients continue to have periodontal disease even when they see their dental hygienist twice a year. Change is needed. Learn how a paradigm shift in your approach to diagnosing and treating gum disease can improve the health of 90% of your clients in just a few short weeks. This presentation will explore some of the reasons behind the growing threat to oral and sytemic health and will describe solutions. Involving the client in the diagnostic process leads them to acceptance of treatment and compliance. Eliminate “bloody prophies” and guide clients toward oral and systemic health.

The presentation will cover:

-Assessment tools including microbial analysis that helps locate and measure periodontal disease
-A system of communication with clients that increases acceptance of treatment.
-New techniques for non-invasive, non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) using an antibiotic rinse system.
